HMRC updates list of software compatible with MTD for VAT
HMRC have updated the list of software compatible with Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT.
For VAT periods starting from 1 April 2019, most businesses above the VAT threshold will need to keep their records digitally and submit their VAT return using MTD-compatible software.
"If you sign up to MTD for VAT you’ll need software that lets you submit VAT returns and keep records of sales and purchases," HMRC said.
HMRC has warned that you must have the correct software before you sign up.
Find software that's compatible with Making Tax Digital for VAT provides a list of software packages that are compatible with MTD for VAT.
If you’re already using software to keep records, HMRC has advised you ask your provider if they plan on making the software compatible with MTD.
MTD is part of the government’s #SmarterGov campaign, which was launched to drive innovation through the public sector.
