Focus on deadlines
Last month I announced that we are hosting the IFA Awards on 24 September 2020 at the East Wintergarden in Canary Wharf, London. The response has been enthusiastic and I know that many of you are busy working on your submissions already.
Nominations open on Monday 6 January and I’m looking forward to reviewing them with the judging panel.
You can view a full list of the categories and the criteria on the Awards website www.ifa-awards.co.uk. The renewals window also opened in October.
I encourage you to pay your membership and member firm fees where relevant and to complete your annual declarations by the deadline of 31 December.
I am very proud that so many of you choose to make the IFA your professional membership body. We continue to work hard to ensure that we represent your views at the highest level and provide the support you need as a financial accountant.
Regretfully, there are a small minority of members who are resistant to completing their renewals on time. As in previous years late payment charges of £30 will be applied in February and March and those who have not paid by 31 March will have their membership lapsed.
Readmission costs £160, which is non-refundable. Those who fail to submit their annual return will be in contravention of the IFA Bye-laws and will be referred to the Regulatory Committee where sanctions for non-compliance start at £500 plus costs.
Details of Regulatory Committee cases will be published in the magazine and on the website. You can find out more about the committee and the sanctions it can impose at ifa.org.uk/memberregulations.
I am sure most of you have completed your CPD requirement for this year. It’s never too early to start the process of planning for 2020 and I direct your attention to the new dates for workshops, which have recently been released. These are always popular and it’s advisable to book your place early to get the date and location you want.
I would like to wish you all a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
John Edwards FFA FIPA, IFA CEO
